SLR Photography Basics
Want to WOW yourself and others?
You have a digital SLR. You are happy with the pictures you can take but know that it can deliver much more. And it can. SLR Photography Basics focuses on increasing your ability to make great images in three areas: camera know-how, the art of photography, basic post processing skills (image editing).
Camera Know How
Great Photography requires creativity and technical knowledge. The technical side of photography can seem overwhelming (there is an immense amount to learn). I've taken what I know and distilled it down to the most important fundamentals for the content of this course. You'll learn how the numbers on your camera’s display relate to how the image will turn out.
The Artistic Side of Photography
You can have all the technical knowledge in the world but unless your pictures are interesting it will mean nothing. In this course, we'll learn the "rules" of photographic composition. Wether you think you have an artistic eye or not there are simple, practical things you can practice which will improve the artistic impact of your photographs. We meet and critique along the way, helping your eye to develop.
Post Processing
As good as your camera is there is usually a lot of room to improve your images once out of your camera. We'll use free tools like Picasa and iPhoto to make sure your images are color corrected, properly exposed, and creatively enhanced. Make no mistake: I don't use post processing to "fix" bad pictures - we'll learn to turn great photos into captivating images.
